Fish are biting at Mount Pleasant Pier

The Mount Pleasant Pier was the location for a fishing tournament as well as many casual fishermen casting their lines in the water in June. Staff at the pier sent in several photos from the June 1 tournament as well as another notable catch.

Jackson Perry was the winner in the Adult Angler category at the June 1 Cooper River Challenge, with the catch of a 3 lb., 8 oz. Sheepshead.

Julie Goewey caught a 1 lb., 14 oz. Spotted Sea Trout to win the Lady Angler category of the Cooper River Challenge.

Keieley Perry won the Youth Angler category of the Mount Pleasant Pier’s Cooper River Challenge with her catch of a 1 lb., 1 oz. Spotted Sea Trout.

Madison Bisinger of Summerville caught a 6 oz. Croaker during the June 1 Cooper River Challenge.

Patrick Clise caught a 3 lbs., 10 oz. of fish at the Mount Pleasant Pier on June 1, to win the Aggregate Weight category of the Cooper River Challenge. He had a 2 lb., 9 oz. Spotted Sea Trout and a 1 lb., 1 oz. Whiting.

The Senior Winner (not pictured) was Ronald Gallagher with a 1 lb. Whiting.

Also, on June 15, Cole Scroggs of downtown Charleston caught a 21 inch, 3 lb., 13 oz. flounder on the pier using gulp shrimp for bait. He is the new leader for the Mount Pleasant Pier’s summer challenge in the flounder category.
