Next To New, a furniture consignment store in the Shoppes of Brickyard has expanded their operation to a total of 5,000 square feet of shopping space.

Next To New now features 2,000 more square feet of gently used, vintage and antique furniture and home accessories. They also carry selections of painted and shabby chic furniture and many one-of-a-kind finds.

If you’re downsizing, redecorating, have great furniture or home accessories you no longer need, Next to New can sell it for you. They offer a 50/50 split and pay out monthly for the previous month’s sales. They take walk-in consignments Monday through Saturday.

Owned by Catherine Moorehead and Cindy Clark, the store came to be in October 2010. The pair were friends and when the store became available for purchase, they went for it.

“Having a partner is essential in a busy environment like this,” said Clark.

“It brings good balance, added Moorehead.

And the customers’ response to their success and ability to expand not only their space but their offerings, has been overwhelming, Clark added.

“To see a small business doing well is a great reflection on the local economy,” Clark said.

“We have really loyal customers, and over 1,500 consignors. We average three to four new consignors a day,” she said.

Moorehead explained that repeat customers are their best advertisers. The pair prides themselves on customer service and flexibility. They accept walk-in consignors without an appointment.

Consignors can access their account online. They offer items for three months and reduce the price by 20 percent every three weeks until it expires. Customers can pick up their items that have not sold. The pricing on each item is always reasonable and beneficial to the store owners and the consignor.

“We charge what people are willing to pay,” Moorehead said, “and we benefit equally.”

A grand-reopening party is being planned to showcase the expansion. An entire wall was taken out to add a bright new showroom, complete with furniture and accessories for every room in the house. A linen room was added, as well as expanded space for bedroom sets.
