Celebrity music concert and golf event to benefit three charitable foundations focused on children and education taking place October 21-22 on Daniel Island in Charleston, SC.

The worlds of racing and music are teaming up again thanks to Denny Hamlin and Mark Bryan for the second annual Denny & Mark’s Pro-Am Jam hosted by the Student Transportation of America Education Foundation (STAEF) taking place Oct. 21 and 22 on Daniel Island in Charleston. The two-day private event including greats from the worlds of music, racing, entertainment and sports will feature a Celebrity Jam Concert presented by SunTrust on Monday, Oct. 21 on the back lawn at the Daniel Island Club followed by an exciting day on the links at the club’s award-winning Ralston Creek Course with the Celebrity Pro-Am taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

This year’s fundraising event will again be hosted by Denny Hamlin and Mark Bryan in partnership with Denis Gallagher, CEO of Student Transportation, and his company’s philanthropic arm, the Student Transportation of America Education Foundation. “The inaugural Pro-Am Jam last year was incredibly successful. We wanted to put on a memorable event combining golf, music and philanthropy to raise funds which could help many children within our community,” states Denis Gallagher. “We were able to do that with last year’s event and Pro-Am Jam 2 will be even bigger and better. Denny and Mark are great partners who are dedicated to supporting children, as we are with STAEF, and our collective efforts with this annual event is our way of giving back and helping kids who are our future.”

Last year’s event was held in the fall on Daniel Island and raised $135,000 making it an incredible success for a first-time event. The charitable organizations represented by hosts Denny Hamlin, Mark Bryan and STAEF were the beneficiaries and all have a common mission in creating better opportunities for children. The funds raised from last year’s event were allocated as such: $45,000 was donated to STAEF led by Denis Gallagher, $45,000 was donated to Carolina Studios led by Mark Bryan, $30,000 was donated to MUSC Children’s Hospital for Cystic Fibrosis research on behalf of The Denny Hamlin Foundation and another $15,000 was donated to fund other projects and donation requests from The Denny Hamlin Foundation.

Mark Bryan will lead the Jam Concert presented by SunTrust again this year. Some of his friends from the music industry who took part last year were Edwin McCain, country legend Johnny Lee, Collective Soul’s Ed Roland, Elise Testone and 14-time Grammy winner, Dan Tyminski. More great musical acts will be added to this year’s line-up as things progress.

“I’ve so enjoyed getting to raise funds with Denny and Denis, and some of the all-time greats, playing music and golf on Daniel Island. Thanks to everyone who helped us get off to such a good start with this event,” states Mark Bryan.

Last year’s Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament included co-host Denny Hamlin who represented the world of NASCAR along with racing legends Darrell and Michael Waltrip and NASCAR Championship team owner and Hall of Fame and Super Bowl Champion NFL Coach Joe Gibbs. Major League Baseball great Johnny Damon, NHL Hall of Famer Grant Fuhr, NBA legend Rick Barry, Heisman Trophy winner and Super Bowl champion George Rogers and former NFL standout and actor Ed Marinaro all participated last year. PGA professional Tommy Gainey, a local favorite, and South Carolina’s own PGA professional Tommy Biershenk represented the world of professional golf.

“I am excited to go back to Daniel Island and raise money for Cystic Fibrosis research at MUSC Children’s Hospital,” states Denny Hamlin. “We already have heard from NASCAR drivers who want to be a part of this event and expect to add to the great celebrity group we had last year with folks like Joe Gibbs, Michael Waltrip and Johnny Damon.”

Last year’s event had great support from the community and its many sponsors including SunTrust, FedEx, Piggly Wiggly, Navistar/IC Bus, Thomas Bus and Toyota.
