Trident Technical College is offering two new courses to assist those seeking to make a transition to a gluten-free lifestyle – either by choice or necessity.
In “Gluten Free – Living It and Loving Life,” students will learn how to reinvent some of their children’s favorite dishes like mac and cheese and chicken fingers, and make sauces, gravies and one-pot meals that will enhance many of your other favorites.
Students will even have the opportunity to share some of the gluten-free recipes for which they’ve found prior success. The course will be offered on Saturdays, July 13 and 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on TTC Main Campus in North Charleston; the cost is $59.
Gluten-free cooking is quickly becoming an integral part of many cooks’ menus. In “Gluten-Free Baking,” students will learn about all aspects of baking wheat-free, utilizing substitutes such as rice flour, soy, buckwheat, corn and xanthan gum.
They will also master an array of baked goods, including muffins, cookies, pies, quick breads and cakes, with wheat-free substitutes.
The course will be offered on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Main Campus; the cost is $69.
