Crum arrested for several indecent exposure incidents

Keith Preston Crum, born august 18, 1981 was arrested yesterday for indecent exposure according to Mount Pleaant Police Department spokesman Maj. Stan Gragg. Yesterday at approximately 3 p.m. the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to the area of U.S. Highway 17 Frontage Road near Bowman Road in reference to a report of a male subject who had exposed himself in a lewd and lascivious manner to a female who was sitting at the bus stop, Gragg said in a statement.

Upon arrival the officers made contact with the victim and a witness and were able to ascertain a tag number for the suspect’s vehicle. Mount Pleasant Police Sergeant Herring was patrolling the area and observed a vehicle fitting the description and initiated a traffic stop on the suspect in the area of U.S. Highway 17 and Shellmore Drive.

Gragg said that Keith Preston Crum, of 8932 Charleston Highway in Bowman, was detained without incident. Subsequent investigation by Mount Pleasant and Charleston detectives was able to link Crum to multiple Indecent Exposure incidents in Mount Pleasant and Charleston. Crum is being charged by the Mount Pleasant Police with 10 counts of Indecent Exposure and two counts of Assault 1st Degree. Crum is being charged by the Charleston Police with three counts of Indecent Exposure and one count of Criminal Sexual conduct 3rd Degree. Crum’s bond hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. today.

“Both agencies would like to express our extreme gratitude for the willingness and courage of the witness to come forward and provide the necessary information which led to the identification and subsequent arrest of Crum who had plagued both jurisdictions since April,” said Gragg.
