I have a blog. There, I said it. No, this doesn’t mean I’ll be at Starbucks, typing on a MacBook and sharing earbuds with trendy-looking folks who have the latest Indie rock tunes.
I’m not into coffee, I have a PC and Indie rock ain’t my scene. So, what does me having a blog mean?
Frankly, I’m still figuring that out. There are several benefits, though, that I am sure of. One, I’ll be more accessible. Commenting on news articles can be tricky since most companies have adopted a comment system that links to Facebook. You might want to voice your opinion but don’t want your profile visible. That’s understandable.
In order to comment on my blog posts, you won’t have to log in through your Facebook. Share your views – keep ‘em classy – and they’ll be visible underneath my post.
Some of my posts will inject my own opinion in them. Others will be more generic and provide additional insight – like extra notes and quotes – that had to be cut from the final printed product. And, others will be strictly fun topics. On an especially difficult Monday – because what Monday doesn’t suck? – you may check my blog and see a picture of a puppy playing around. If that doesn’t turn things around for your work week, I don’t know what will.
So, there will be a slight degree of random, but mostly it’ll be an extension of my reporting. A little randomness injected into consistency is my formula.
The overall point of having a blog, though, is to better serve you, the reader. I want this to be a constant line of communication. If you’re not comfortable sending story suggestions via email or phone, shoot me your ideas in a comment on my blog. The URL, by the way, is blog.moultrienews.com/eye-of-the-tyler.
I have some stories up there already, like a fun introduction, extra notes and quotes from two different articles and a letter from concerned residents directly related to an article I later wrote addressing those concerns.
As always, thanks for letting me into your home with (hopefully) minimal time spent baking on your driveway after a violent toss from our home delivery agents. Now I hope you’ll allow me to rest comfortably among your internet bookmarks.
