The Specialty Chemicals Division of paper company MeadWestvaco has donated a $2,500 grant to YEScarolina.

Alyssa D’Orazio, MeadWestvaco’s Community Relations Specialist, said, “We truly believe in the organization’s mission and feel strongly that they have developed a winning model to ensure each and every classroom in need has the proper tools to ensure today’s youth will be tomorrow’s business owners and business leaders.”

Posting on its Facebook page, the company added that it was “delighted to support YEScarolina.”

YEScarolina plans to use the funds to buy state-approved entrepreneurship textbooks for a classroom, as well as support its classroom-based entrepreneurship education program.

Reflecting on the donation, YEScarolina founder and executive director Jimmy Bailey said, “We are thrilled to see that MeadWestVaco understands and supports our work. MeadWestvaco and its workforce has been a stellar corporate citizen of our community for many years, giving to many educational nonprofits and we are honored to be included.”

MeadWestvaco, a worldwide packaging company headquartered in Richmond, VA, counts Mead, AT-A-GLANCE, and Five Star among its premier brands. Its Specialty Chemicals Division is based in North Charleston.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, YEScarolina relies solely on private donations to fulfill its mission of teaching entrepreneurship to students from across South Carolina. Donate to YEScarolina through their website or join them at the annual gala on Thursday, Oct. 17.
