Water Missions International receives top rating for nonprofit organizations

  • Monday, August 5, 2013

Charleston-based Water Missions International recently received Charity Navigator’s coveted four-star rating for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency for the seventh year in a row.

“Only two percent of the charities we rate have received at least seven consecutive four-star evaluations, indicating that Water Missions International outperforms most other charities in America,” Charity Navigator president and CEO Ken Burger said. “This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Water Missions International from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”

Charity Navigator helps guide intelligent giving by providing information on more 5,000 charities and by evaluating the financial health of those organizations. Forbes, Business Week and Kiplinger’s Financial Magazine have profiled and celebrated Charity Navigator’s unique method of applying data-driven analysis to the charitable sector.

“It is a top priority at Water Missions International to be good stewards of donor resources through financial transparency and accountability,” says Water Missions International founder and CEO George C. Greene III, PE, PhD. “To continue to be recognized for such fiscal and operational responsibility by Charity Navigator is a great honor.”

Water Missions International currently has full-time staff in nine countries around the world – Honduras, Haiti, Mexico, Belize, Peru, Uganda, Kenya, Malawi and Indonesia. In addition to providing sustainable access to safe water to people in these countries and 49 others, Water Missions International also stands ready to respond in the wake of a disaster.
