Each week, the Moultrie News and Mount Pleasant Recreation Department will feature local track and field athletes participating in the department.

Jayla Grant, 11, participates in the shot put and discus events with the Mount Pleasant Track Club. Ginger Arnold, 8, participates in the javelin, 800-meter and shot put events with the club.

Question: If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be?

Jayla Grant: I would be Beyonce, because I like her music and she is an amazing singer.

Ginger Arnold: Usain Bolt winning a race.

Q: What is your favorite Mount Pleasant restaurant?

JG: Shem Creek Restaurant.

GA: Carrabbas.

Q: What is the best moment in your athletic career?

JG: Qualifying for the National Junior Olympics.

GA: Being an All-American twice.

Q: What is the best advice you have gotten from a coach?

JG: Move your arm as fast as you can.

GA: If you don’t beat me this race, you’ll have to do another.

Q: What do you look forward to the most about being an adult?

JG: I want to be a psychiatrist.

GA: Being a coach.

Q: What do you think are the most difficult and most fun aspects of track?

JG: Most difficult is running in the heat. Most fun is water balloon relays.

GA: Practice is both!

Q: What is your movie and TV show?

JG: Movie: “Rags” and TV show: “Victorious.”

GA: Movie: “Dennis the Menance” and TV Show: “Wild.”

Q: If you could have dinner with any three people who would you choose?

JG: Mother, father and sister.

GA: Michael Phelps, Barbara Spotakova and coach Tami Dennis.
