Starting this fall semester, the new associate degree in homeland security management at Trident Technical College is the first degree of its kind in South Carolina.
The program prepares students for positions as transportation security officers, mission support specialists, border patrol agents, security officer screeners, program analysts and various other positions in local, state and federal agencies.
“Trident Technical College is the ideal location for this program,” said Shawn Livingston, criminal justice department head. “With TTC’s proximity to the port and the coast as well as the wealth of knowledge from the faculty and staff, students are uniquely prepared to enter into the field prepared for all types of situations and emergencies.”
The degree program prepares students to work in an “all-hazard” environment covering the spectrum of emergency situations from natural disasters to man-made disasters and intentional acts.
“Students from all types of backgrounds are encouraged to apply,” Livingston said. “This field is diverse and allows students to explore many options for employment with local, state and federal agencies including work in private industry.”
TTC is currently accepting applications for this fall. For more information about TTC’s homeland security management program or to apply to the college, visit www.tridenttech.edu or call faculty advisor Alan Williams at 843-574-6897.
