Hootie & the Blowfish team up with the Charleston County School District to host the annual Hometown Roundup, a back to school program which provides children with school supplies and other services necessary to be well-prepared to start the 2013/2014 school year.
The roundup will assist 1,700 high-poverty elementary school students from nine Charleston elementary schools: Murray LaSaine, A.C. Corcoran, Goodwin, Hunley Park, Ladson, Lambs, Hursey, Charleston Development Academy and North Charleston Elementary. This year’s Hootie & The Blowfish Homegrown Roundup is called “Back 2 School Basics” and will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 at Burke High School Auditorium, 244 President St.
The roundup provides essential services and back-to-school supplies for approximately 1, 000 to 2,000 local students. Items include haircuts, dental exams, eye exams, backpacks, shoes, uniforms and basic school supplies.
