He changed his mind

  • Saturday, August 17, 2013

A disturbance occurred between neighbors one evening, and police were called to the scene.

It turns out that a man had willingly given his wallet to his neighbor with the understanding that she would put it in a locked box and return it to him in the morning.

However, the man changed his mind and wanted his wallet back, but the friend refused to return it until morning.

When he called police and explained this, the officer who arrived on scene said he would not compel the friend to return the wallet since they had already made an agreement.

He did however go speak to the friend. She said the man was an alcoholic and she has been trying to help him. Part of that help is to hold on to his wallet each night so he doesn’t go out and buy alcohol.

She told the officer she would return the wallet the next day like always. After talking some more, she agreed to remove he credit cards and money out of the wallet and return the wallet with his license in it only. The man put it in his pocket and was satisfied. He then left on foot to hang with friends in a neighboring apartment.
