Palmetto Christian Academy quarterback/defensive back J.T. Waters has received serious collegiate scholarship interest from several schools in the Southeast.

His father, Johnny, who is also the Eagles’ baseball coach, said his son has serious interest from Wingate and Newberry and added that UNC Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Wofford, The Citadel and Charleston Southern have also inquired about the three-sport standout.

The ninth annual Mount Pleasant Junior Regatta, held at Hobcaw Yacht Club on Aug. 10, included 51 sailors. Gavin Parker, of James Island Yacht Club, was named the overall winner of the opti fleet.

Sailors of all abilites participated in the event, which included 14 420s, five opti white, four opti blue, one opti red and 13 opti green.

Hobcaw Yacht Club provided boats for sailors who do not own boats.

In the 420 class, Hunter Buyck and Peter Buyck, of Carolina Yacht Club, won first place.
