REACH Gala planned for Sept. 27

  • Thursday, August 22, 2013

ISHPI’s founder, Noah Leask, had a vision for ISHPI to make a difference by supporting vital community service programs, charitable organizations at the local, state and national levels. ISHPI continues to serve the Charleston community by sponsoring the annual REACH Program Scholarship Gala. ISHPI leads the way in sponsorship support for REACH students. This sponsorship provides scholarship opportunities for students enrolled at the College of Charleston in the REACH Program. This program provides students with an intellectual disability a chance to attend college. Unfortunately, the costs of college and limited financial aid have made this a hardship for many students.

This year’s gala takes place on Friday, Sept. 27 at the Daniel Island Club. The gala features both a live and silent auction with items ranging from golf at the acclaimed TPC Sawgrass course to tickets to Disney World to various local restaurant and retail store gift certificates. Tickets to the event cost $100 and are available for purchase by contacting the REACH Program at 843-953-4849. Monetary donations and auction items are also greatly appreciated and go toward helping over a dozen students each year.

Noah Leask and his wife Lisa Leask have been involved with the REACH Scholarship Gala for three years and are currently part of the committee responsible for putting together the annual gala.

About the REACH Program

The REACH (Realizing Educational and Career Hopes) Program at the College of Charleston is a four-year, fully inclusive certificate program for students with mild intellectual disabilities. The program provides students with a complete college experience allowing them to explore and realize both their intellectual and personal potential.

The REACH Program promotes four pillars of success—academics, increased social skills, development of independent living skills and career development. REACH students have access to every aspect of college life: classes with typical students, on-campus living, ability to join clubs, take part in social events and complete internships while attending. College is possible with the REACH Program.
