IOP Connector Run set for Oct. 5

The 21st annual Isle of Palms Connector Run and Walk for the Child will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 beginning at 8 a.m. Registration is now open and is available at www.ioprun.com or www.active.com.

Money raised from sponsorships and registration are used to support child advocacy and the prevention of child abuse in the Charleston area. Net proceeds from the IOP Connector Run and Walk for the Child support the local prevention of child abuse and other child related programs. Last year’s event hosted more than 1,000 participants and raised over $45,000 for various local child-related charities and programs.

The race begins at the foot of the IOP Connector on the Isle of Palms. 10K runners and 5K runners and walkers will cross the connector toward Mount Pleasant, then return to the Isle of Palms, with the race finishing on J.C. Long Boulevard where post race activities will include entertainment by “Plain Jane,” a Beer Garden in front of Acme Lowcountry Kitchen, inflatables for the children and, of course, the awards presentation to the top three overall male and female finishers, the top male and female masters and grandmasters finishers and the top three male and female finishers in fifteen age categories will begin immediately following the race.

Fees for the 10K and 5K run are $35 if received by Sept. 30 and $40 beginning Oct. 1. 5K walk registration fees are $35 if received by Sept. 30 and $40 beginning Oct. 1.

Packet pickup will be available from 3–6 p.m. Thursday Oct. 3 and 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 at the Isle of Palms Exchange Club building located at 201 Palm Boulevard on the Isle of Palms.

The IOP Connector Run and Walk for the Child is organized by the Exchange Clubs of Mount Pleasant and the Isle of Palms, the City of Isle of Palms and the Town of Mount Pleasant.
