A pair of locals caught 8.32 pounds worth of fish and were rewarded with a lot more from this past weekend’s Charleston Open. Addison Rupert, captain of Lowcountry Adventures, and David Rupert, his father and co-angler, won first place among a field of 48 two-man teams.

The Charleston Open was the second stop on this year’s Oakley Redfish Tour. The Ruperts won a prize package valued at $30,000 of a 2013 Wako LTS 18-foot boat donated by Bass Pro Shops.

Because of Saturday morning storms, more than half of the competitors failed to bring in any fish. This tournament’s rules included the use of artificial bait, which made for tougher conditions.
