Southern Season, the anticipated gourmet retailer, will open its doors to the public on Thursday, Sept. 5. To celebrate the store’s Mount Pleasant opening, there will be a month of specials and events sure to turn locals and visitors alike into loyal Southern Season shoppers.
On Sept. 5, the celebrations begin with an 8:30 a.m. ribbon cutting with Mount Pleasant Mayor Billy Swails. The grand opening follows at 9 a.m., and guests can shop while having samples and vendor demonstrations. Southerly Restaurant and Patio, the adjacent full-service, fine-dining restaurant, will be open for lunch and dinner on opening day and, beginning on Sept. 6, will be open for breakfast (beginning at 7 a.m.), lunch and dinner.
Daily specials are offered to help customers utilize each of the store’s separate departments, such as the coffee bar, concierge service and deli. From Monday, Sept. 9 to Thursday, Sept. 19, enjoy the following grand opening specials:
• Mondays: buy a large cup of coffee, get a free mini scone
•Tuesdays: free courier service in the greater Charleston area for all orders placed by end of day Monday
• Wednesdays: free gift wrap for any purchases
• Thursdays: buy two sides at the deli and get a third free (from an approved list)
Guests looking to participate in special events at the store will have a wide variety to choose from including daily cookouts and happy hours with different live music each day from artists such as Travis Allison, Jim Algar, Mike and the Mixers, Whit Algar, Dave Gillease, Cattle in the Cane, High Tide, Lowhills Band, Gino Castillo, Return of the Mac, Rhino Chaser, Weigh Station and Gary Cooper Trio. Throughout the opening celebrations, guests will also find specialty cooking demonstrations and hands-on classes in Southern Season’s state of the art cooking school; local vendor demonstrations; open house classes; and food specials benefiting Southern Season’s Share the Food Foundation, a non-profit foundation that fights hunger and poverty in local areas.
Wrap up the celebration on Sunday, Sept. 22, with a $10 Lowcountry boil benefiting Share the Food Foundation, beer from a local brewery and family-friendly activities such as a blindfolded jellybean flavor tasting contest, Moon Pie eating competition, create your own candy bar station (for children under 16) and a Southern Season scavenger hunt (for children under 12). The night ends on a bright note – meet and greet your local fireman, tour a local firetruck and celebrate with sparklers in the parking lot beginning at 7 p.m. Don’t miss your chance to welcome Southern Season to the neighborhood.
