There’s offense, and then there’s what Palmetto Christian football did to Lincoln

When you score 78 points, it usually doesn’t matter how many points you allow. The Palmetto Christian football team defeated Lincoln, 78-46, this past Friday night at Park West Field.

The Eagles led 60-34 at halftime thanks to offensive efficiency. Quarterback J.T. Waters had seven total touchdowns (five rushing, two passing), rushed for 261 yards on eight carries (32.6 yards per rush) and threw for 153 yards on 7-of-11 passing.

Tailback Ryan Roe added to the impressive box score with nine carries for 174 yards and four touchdowns. Chase Shimakonis and Ben German caught 35-yard and 23-yard touchdown passes, respectively.

Defensively, freshman Thomas Gunn led the Eagles with seven tackles. Four other players had five tackles each. Lincoln’s Eric Manigault led the Yellow Jacket attack with three touchdown runs.

With the loss to SCISA 2A Palmetto Christian, SCHSL 1A Lincoln lost its 48th consecutive game. The Yellow Jackets have not won since Oct. 3, 2008. They’ll get a good shot at ending the streak with an away game Friday at Creek Bridge (0-2), which has lost its first two games this season, 42-0 and 57-6.

Palmetto Christian hosts Trinity-Byrnes (1-1) on Friday.
