The Charleston County School District (CCSD) is pleased to announce Amy Neloms as the new director of K-12 Guidance and Counseling. Within this role, Neloms will provide leadership toward the implementation of the comprehensive school counseling program at school, district and state levels. Through advocacy programs and school improvement, services will be offered to enhance student academic, social and career success.

A product of CCSD schools, having attended Murray LaSaine Elementary, Fort Johnson Middle and James Island High School, Charleston is home for Neloms. Her enthusiasm and passion for student achievement helped her blossom into an effective leader in the counseling profession. Before stepping into her new position, Neloms served as the director of Counseling for Academic Magnet High School, West Ashley High School, Military Magnet Academy and as the Ninth Grade Academy Counselor at North Charleston High School.

“It is my desire to ensure that all CCSD School Counseling Programs are working to close the achievement gap, elevate the scholastic achievement of all students and to develop collaborative strategies with all schools so we can work in unison to increase the graduation rate,” Neloms says.

Neloms and her husband Rasheem have three children, Rasheem Jr., Imani and Naima.
