Willing to go to jail for a friend

  • Saturday, September 14, 2013

A concerned citizen called police to report a hit and run in her neighborhood. She explained to the officer that a female had been driving the car and she got out and started walking father into the neighborhood. Police ran the tag and the owner lived at a nearby address. They went to the residence and the person who answered the door was extremely uncooperative. The officer could smell booze on her breath. She said she had not been driving but her roommate had and that the roommate was not there. After questioning her and not getting anywhere, the suspect told police she was willing to go to jail for her friend. She said she was protecting her because the roommate had a newborn child.

After some convincing the owner of the vehicle appeared at the door to speak with the officer.

She too had an odor of alcohol coming from her breath.

A witness positively identified her as the driver and said he wanted to pursue charges.

This suspect said she had no idea what happened and had no idea where her car was.

However, her father arrived on the scene and told police his nephew had called him and said his daughter had been in an accident.

The roommate again admitted that her friend was driving and she was just trying to protect her.

The roommate was charged with interfering with officers, and the driver was charged with leaving the scene.
