Mount Pleasant Rec Department youth football game of the week, Oct. 2
Leo Albano accounted for five touchdowns to spark the high powered New Image Weight Loss Crusaders offense to a convincing 48-8 win over the Dick’s Sporting Goods Cario Comets in Mount Pleasant Recreation Department varsity (13-14 year olds) football action.
Albano got the Crusaders offense rolling early with a 56-yard touchdown run on the second play of the game. Jacob Shiver and Carter Kilgore would both add touchdown runs before Albano was at it again, adding a 26-yard and a 9-yard touchdown run to help build a commanding 34-8 lead. The offense would tack on more points just before halftime as Albano caught a touchdown pass on a halfback pass by Christian Greavu.
The Cario offense tried to retaliate through the air behind Thomas Waln, Rory Cradock, McRae Williamson and Noah Jenkins, who caught Cario’s only touchdown. However, the Crusaders defensive line led by Jacob Wilkins, David Brown, Danny Hollister and Mac Hunter pressured the Cario offense all game long.
Coach Albano and the New Image Weight Loss Crusaders remained perfect on the season at 2-0, while the loss dropped Coach Williams and the Dick’s Sporting Goods Cario Comets to 1-1.
