A 17-year-old kid got mad at school administrators who took away his hat. He demanded they give it back to him and they refused. The administrator told the boy he would not get the hat back until the following day. He then stormed out of the office and down the hall. He arrived at the exit door and kicked it, shattering the glass. In fact, he kicked the door so hard his entire leg went through the glass. But he just opened the door and walked right through, leaving the school without reporting the incident.
The surveillance video was clear enough for administrators to identify the boy. They went to call him to the office the next day, but he was not at school. The administrator then called the boy’s mother who agreed to bring him in to talk about the incident.
She said her son meant to kick the metal kick plate on the door but missed and his leg went through the glass. She said her boy did not know what to do so he just left and went home. He told his mother about what happened, but she too did not report the incident. Instead she said she kept her son home from school that day and they were contemplating withdrawing him from the school.
Officials at the school said they would not press charges if the boy paid restitution for the glass to be replaced. He agreed to do so and the case was closed.
