“To Hear Them Tell It – Memories of Growing Up in Charleston” has been released by Charleston Guide Books Publishing Company. This anthology was drawn from the interviews of more than two dozen native Charlestonians of various ages, backgrounds and walks of life who portray the sense of place in an earlier Charleston that was quite different than today.
This book will be of particular interest to native Charlestonians who can remember and relate to much of what has been chronicled by those who were interviewed. However, transplants may enjoy learning about the Charleston that old-timers recall.
The author, Mary Coy, is a fourth-generation Charlestonian. She has written a number of books on Charleston and has also been a contributing writer for national and local publications. The book retails for $15.99 and is available at several local stores and online through Amazon.com.
