Jonathan Miller, a local children’s author and illustrator, has been named the featured artist of the 36th annual Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble. Both the Turkey Day Run T-Shirts and posters will be adorned with Miller’s design. “Jonathan was chosen as the artist this year because we really loved how involved with the local community he is,” said race director Lewis Moore, “when we saw the turkey walking down the beach, we knew we had chosen the right artist.”

Miller is the creator, author and illustrator of “The Adventures of Sammy the Wonder Dachshund,” which is a series of children’s books based on an adorable dog who is a fact checker for an internet company. Miller derives his inspiration from the students that he reads to as he usually visits around 130 different schools over the course of the school year. The stories on his blog about his school visits will have you laughing out loud.

Miller’s unique construction paper method of illustration was his basis for the Turkey Day Run Artwork design. Miller’s artwork is known to take an average of 30 hours per page to build. The original turkey appeared in his first book, “Sammy’s Last Week in Charleston,” but after a little exercise and some running shoes, this turkey was ready for his wobbly debut. “The Turkey for the Turkey Day Run artwork is in much better shape than the one that appeared in the book,” replied Miller. Whether your children are interested in Charleston, safari animals or space adventure, Miller does not disappoint, he loves what he does and it definitely shows. Miller will be an active participant in the festivities related to the Turkey Day Run this year, and is very excited to be involved.

The Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 704 with the mission of raising funds for local charitable organizations. The council donated more than $85,000 last year to a dozen different charities.
