Junior Mitch Hogan recorded a personal best time during this past weekend’s Lowcountry Invitational.
The Bishop England girls tennis team defeated Woodland in back-to-back matches last Tuesday, 7-0 and 7-0. The first match featured two sets per individual matchup and the second match only required one to win.
The following day, Porter-Gaud beat the Bishops, 4-3. Bishop England (8-1) traveled to Ashley Hall on Tuesday. The match was completed after press time.
The Wando girls tennis team improved to 4-5 this season after beating West Ashley in straight sets last Tuesday and Stratford on Thursday. The Warriors played at Waccamaw Tuesday night after the Moultrie News went to press.
The Palmetto Christian girls tennis team won 7-2 over Charleston Collegiate this past Wednesday night. The Eagles moved to 3-3 this season.
The Palmetto Christian volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-18) road victory at South Aiken Baptist last Tuesday night. The Eagles then lost 3-0 (25-20, 27-25, 28-26) to Holly Hill Academy on Thursday night. They dropped to 4-3 this season.
The Wando volleyball team had no problems taking care of First Baptist, 2-0 (25-8, 25-15), during last Tuesday night’s match. The Warriors then knocked off region foe Goose Creek, 2-0 (25-7, 25-6).
Two days later, Wando (25-4) traveled to West Ashley and won another 2-0 match. The Warriors played at Ashley Hall on Tuesday after press time.
The Bishop England girls golf team narrowly lost to rival Academic Magnet last Tuesday, 216-206. Raptors standout Annika Bovender was awarded medalist honors. The match was held at Wescott Plantation.
The Wando girls golf team beat region rival West Ashley, 195-255, this past Thursday at Shadowmoss. The Warriors (4-1) were led by medalist Kate Harper, who shot a 39.
Three Palmetto Christian athletes competed as individuals in the Lowcountry Invitational this past weekend. Eight grader Collin Casey finished in 106th place out of 259 competitors with a personal best time of 18:05.
Junior Mitch Hogan, in his first season running cross country, grabbed 163rd with a personal record of 18:51. Collin’s sister, Caitlin, finished 147th out of 251 athletes at 22:55. Caitlin is a seventh grader.
