Wando’s offense struggles in 41-13 loss at Fort Dorchester

  • Wednesday, October 2, 2013

Big ol’ Bryant was too much for the Wando football team to handle.

Fort Dorchester’s not-so-secret weapon, Eurndraus Bryant, provided goal line touchdown runs in the first, second and third quarters of the Patriots’ 41-13 win over Wando this past Friday night.

Bryant, at 6-feet-2-inches tall and 335 pounds, could not be stopped with the end zone in sight. The Warriors head into an off week – thanks to a Week 0 game against James Island – having lost three consecutive games. Wando last lost three in a row in the 2011 season.

The Warriors (2-4) dug themselves in a hole with a 28-0 halftime deficit. It’s been a trend all season, as Wando has been outscored by a combined 104-61 through the first two periods this season.

Fort Dorchester (3-2) did not turn the ball over, but Wando threw a pair of interceptions and lost a fumble. Defensively, Wando senior defensive lineman Love Scott led the team in tackles with five solo, five assists and a ball deflection. Senior linebacker Mat Norman added four solo tackles, six assists and a ball deflection.

On offense, junior tailback Kenny Waring provided all the scoring with both touchdowns on 16 carries for 92 yards.

Wando hosts West Ashley, Oct. 11. The Wildcats (4-1) are enjoying a resurgent year after going 1-10 last season. Fortunately for Wando, West Ashley isn’t coming into the game having played Goose Creek the week before. All of the Warriors past three losses came to teams who lost to Goose Creek the previous week.
