State Representative Peter McCoy (R-Charleston) was recognized yesterday by the Children’s Hospital of Greenville Health Systems as the Legislator of the Year.
McCoy received the honor for his support and work for children’s issues in the state.
In accepting the award, Rep. McCoy focused on the need to protect and serve our future generations and his commitment to do that in the state legislature.
He also used the opportunity, standing in front of influential medical professionals, job creators and community leaders from across the state, to discuss his High School Concussion Bill which is now law and his Mandatory Reporting of Child Sexual Abuse Bill, which passed the House 112-0 in May.
“From protecting our high school athletes when they suffer concussion like symptoms, to protecting the innocence of children by expanding the reporting of child sexual abuse, to fighting for fiscal
responsibility on all levels of government so the next generation is not drowned by levels of debt they will never be able to get out of – we must do all we can to protect our future generations, so they can
have better opportunities than we have,” McCoy said.
He continued: “I am honored to be recognized for my work and give you my commitment here today that I will continue to work endlessly to make South Carolina the best state in the nation for future generations.”
