An officer saw a big pick up truck circling a parking lot at 2:30 a.m. and slowed to see what the driver was doing. All of the businesses in the complex were closed, so naturally his actions look suspicious.
The driver then parked in front of a paint store, walked down the side of the building and stopped in the bushes. The officer then parked his car and walked toward the man. He called the man to come toward him, which he did.
The officer asked him what he was doing and he said he was trying to get to the gas station but it was closed. And the officer asked him if that was the case, why did he just stand there in the middle of the bushes after realizing the gas station was closed? The man did not respond.
When they walked back to the man’s truck the officer glanced inside and saw a pipe associated with smoking pot.
The officer handcuffed the man for safety and asked him how much marijuana he had in the truck. He replied that is was just shake and less than a gram.
At that point the officer asked him for his truck paperwork and he could not produce insurance. He said he left the card at home. He then said he should have insurance. Then added, “It is about to lapse,” which turned out to mean he did not have insurance.
He was then charged with simple possession, possession of paraphernalia and no insurance and taken to jail.
