Hollywood residents Rick Cooper and Bud Poston are ready to compete in the second annual Tee It Up Fore Kids! Golf Benefit.
The Teachers’ Supply Closet 2013 Golf Benefit Tee It Up Fore Kids! was a success as the event attracted more than 150 participants to the award-winning Links at Stono Ferry on Friday, Sept. 20.
The tournament consisted of four-player teams in a Captain’s Choice format, a Closest to the Pin, Straightest Drive and Hole-in-One challenges and a reception and silent auction following a fun-filled day of golf. Prizes consisted of an eight-day, seven-night golf getaway package for Myrtle Beach, Orlando or Hilton Head, a Folly Beach vacation, a custom set of Ping Graphite Irons, as well as silent auction packages from local businesses.
The benefit nearly doubled the proceeds from the 2012 inaugural golf tournament and will assist with providing free supplies to 13,000 students and 500 teachers who the Teachers’ Supply Closet serves in Charleston Dorchester and Berkeley counties.
“We can’t be more excited about the wonderful support received from the community for our second annual golf benefit,” said Marilyn Schnitz, TSC board member and chair of the golf benefit. “The weather was perfect and the participants were so enthusiastic about supporting a great cause. It was truly a success across the board and we look forward to working on next year’s benefit being just as significant to what we do in supporting the children and teachers of the Tri-County community.”
The winners of the tournament were John Craig, John Anderson, Alan Porter and Mike Stowell.
