Jack Dillard scored two touchdowns and led a stifling defense that propelled the Chick-fil-A of North Mount Pleasant Bulldogs to a 22-6 triumph over the Mellow Mushroom of Mount Pleasant Pirates in Mount Pleasant Recreation Department Mite (10-11 age division) football.
The Pirates took the opening possession and moved the ball well behind the play of Ryan Loud and Will Harris, who would find the end zone on an 11-yard run for an early lead. The Bulldogs would quickly strike back, though, when Dillard returned the ensuing kickoff 62 yards for the score.
The Bulldogs would never look back, Daniel Brinson sneaked in from a yard out to give the Bulldogs a 14-6 halftime advantage and Dillard scored again on a two-yard burst in the third quarter. The Bulldogs defense did the rest, carried by Michael Lewandowski, Will Jordan, Andrew Mims and Jack Zollweg.
With the victory, Coach Thomas and the Chick-fil-A of North Mount Pleasant Bulldogs improved to 5-2, while the defeat dropped Coach Maxwell and the Mellow Mushroom of Mount Pleasant Pirates to 5-2.
