Lippman

Songs for a Shutdown, Dirges for a Default? Dave Lippman will perform some of his greatest hits, including “I Hate Walmart” and “All We Are Saying is End Corporate Crime” on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. in a free concert at the ILA Hall, 1142 Morrison Dr. in Charleston.

Lippman has performed his songs of hope, humor and defiance in the rotunda of the Wisconsin State Capital during the protests there and in the camps of Occupy across the continent. He has been called Americas troubadour of the 99 percent. Florida Flambeau described him as “A latter-day Tom Lehrer…a voice that sounds like Woody Guthrie one minute, Lenny Bruce the next.”

This concert is co-sponsored by the Charleston Chapter of the Carolina Alliance for Fair Employment (CAFÉ) and the S.C. Progressive Network Charleston Chapter. This is a free show.

Members of Network Organizations will be available to comment on issues related to the government shutdown and possible default and the prospects for another round of this political struggle in January 2014 shortly before the concert.
