CCSD tops state in Heart Association’s Jump Rope for Heart

For the third year in a row, Charleston County School District is the top district in South Carolina in its participation in an American Hearth Association program. Jennie Moore Elementary, Laurel Hill Primary and Pinckney Elementary helped raise close to $52,000 to support the American Heart Association and are the only CCSD schools in the top 20 list.

Jump Rope for Heart, celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, helps teach students about how to have a healthy heart through fitness and nutrition. They can also help others by raising funds so that the AHA can continue saving lives in the community. The AHA provides lesson plans and materials to schools, and also a supplement to the physical education budget through gift certificates with U.S. Games.

In the spring of 2013, Wando High School was recognized as a Fit-Friendly Worksite.
