Frank Lee, executive chef of Slightly North of Broad and Old Village Post House, has been selected as a finalist for Sustainer Southeast, a 2013 Chefs Collaborative Sustainability Award. This award will recognize a chef in the southeast who has been both a great mentor and is a model to the culinary community through his/her purchases of seasonal, sustainable ingredients and the transformation of these ingredients into delicious food.
Known as a guiding force in the Lowcountry’s culinary renaissance, Lee has mentored dozens of young chefs. He also helps grow the businesses of local farmers and crafts people and spreads the gospel of sustainability. Under his direction, Maverick Southern Kitchens chefs are encouraged to source as much produce and meat from regional growers as possible. And all practice the fine art of conservation, using every possible ingredient to its fullest potential.
On Tuesday, Nov. 5, during the Sustainable Food Summit in Charleston, Chefs Collaborative will announce the recipient of the award.
