Get up-close view of lights at Holiday Festival Fun Run

  • Friday, October 18, 2013

The holiday spirit is alive at James Island County Park. Families, area residents, and anyone who loves the holidays are invited to experience an up-close preview of the 24th annual Holiday Festival of Lights at the Fun Run and Walk. This two-mile, non-competitive event offered on two nights – Nov. 6 and 7 – is now open for registration.

The Fun Run and Walk is a great opportunity to get a sneak peek of the festival’s 700-plus illuminated displays and festival’s amenities, including gift shops, marshmallow roasting, train and carousel rides and so much more.

Because much of the Holiday Festival of Lights is normally seen from a vehicle, the Fun Run and Walk is the way to go for seeing the entire light show on foot. Advance registration is required for this preview, so reserve your spot today before it sells out.

Register by phone at 843-795-4386 or online at www.ccprc.com/funrun by Tuesday, Nov. 5.

The race begins at 6:30 p.m. Race fees are $12 per person (ages 3 and up) until Nov. 5, and $15 thereafter. All participants must be pre-registered and have an admission ticket (not receipt) to enter the park. There will be no on-site ticket sales. Registration closes when space is full. Lost tickets will not be replaced.

James Island County Park will close to traffic at 6:30 p.m., so participants are encouraged to arrive early. The park will reopen to traffic at approximately 8:30 p.m. Socialized dogs are welcomed on short, non-retractable leashes. Retractable leashes, bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades and scooters are not permitted.

For more information on the fun run, call 843-795-4386 or visit www.ccprc.com/funrun. The Holiday Festival of Lights will open to the general public on Nov. 8 and remain open nightly through Dec. 31. The Holiday Festival of Lights and the Fun Run are presented by Boeing and your Charleston County Parks. For more information, visit www.holidayfestivaloflights.com.
