High Wire Spirits now available in local retail outlets

  • Saturday, October 19, 2013

High Wire Distilling Co., downtown Charleston’s first distillery since Prohibition, has announced that its first two spirits are now available for purchase in local retail outlets. Their Hometown Vodka and Silver Rum will be rolling out to stores the end of this week and will be available for purchase soon in local bars and restaurants.

A gluten-free vodka made from 100 percent corn, Hometown Vodka is an exceptionally smooth vodka with a very clean mouth-feel. It can be enjoyed on its own slightly chilled or mixed into a classic cocktail such as a Tom Collins or martini. High Wire’s Silver Rum is made from the finest grade Barbadian molasses. A tad sweet with notes of banana, this rum is perfect in your favorite mojito recipe or blended into a daiquiri for a cool treat.

High Wire offers tours and tastings from its Upper King street locations Thursday through Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. Visitors can enjoy three 1/2 ounce samples and see the spirits production in action through the Tasting Room’s floor to ceiling viewing windows. Visitors can also purchase bottles of High Wire spirits directly from the Tasting Room. Hometown Vodka retails for $27.99 while Silver Rum retails for $23.99. Classic cocktail mixers such as local favorites, Bittermilk and Jack Rudy Cocktail Co. Tonic, are also available for purchase in the emporium.
