Reed Fosberry has become the latest Fosberry product to make a name for himself at Bishop England. Reed — a senior quarterback and safety — threw three touchdowns, ran another one in and scored a fifth and final touchdown by returning a fumble. He also snagged an interception on defense.

It was enough to lead the Battling Bishops (6-2 overall, 5-0 region) to their sixth consecutive win, 59-26, over region foe Garrett this past Friday night.

Fosberry started the scoring melee, which included Bishop England scoring 56 points through three quarters, in the first period off a seven-yard run. After Garrett connected on a 74-yard pass and catch for a touchdown, Fosberry kept the Bishops in front with a 56-yard heave to younger brother Lawton Fosberry.

That marked the beginning of a dominating stretch by Bishop England, scoring 42 unanswered points, to win comfortably.

Senior running back Nick Shiver tallied 162 yards on 12 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Reed Fosberry threw for a career-high 141 yards off 5-of-9 passing. Senior kicker Matthew Mellin booted a career-long 43-yard field goal for the Bishops only fourth quarter score.

While it was the most balanced offensive output Bishop England has had this season, the bulk of the offense still came on the ground, where Bishops rushers totaled 306 yards.

Garrett (5-3, 2-3) was led by Jamey Cooper’s 116 rushing yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Derrell Roberts threw for 88 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, and he managed 107 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Bishop England hosts Woodland (8-0, 5-0) on Friday in what will determine the region champion. The Wolverines have won all their region games by 14 or more points.
