Two seats were up for grabs tonight for those interested in serving on the Mount Pleasant Waterworks Commission. Longtime commissioner Dr. Bill Golightly chose not to seek reelection.

John Burn, Alyssondra Campaigne, incumbent Rick Crosby and Dolph Rodenberg faced each other in the chance to take over the two available seats.

Crosby and Burn were the top two vote getters.

John Burn chose not to seek reelection to Mount Pleasant Town Council, which he was awarded in 2009. “I have learned so much about the water and wastewater industry and the effects the services provided by Mount Pleasant Waterworks have on our community today and in the future. In the coming years I would like to focus my attention on the clean, safe water and wastewater services provided by Mount Pleasant Waterworks,” said Burn.

Rick Crosby has served 15 years on Mount Pleasant Waterworks Commission and is currently vice chairman. Crosby also serves as the chair of the Mount Pleasant Waterworks Personnel Committee and is a member of the Town of Mount Pleasant Economic Development Committee. In 2013, Crosby was appointed by Major Swails to service on the Economic Development Advisory Board. During Crosby’s tenure with Mount Pleasant Waterworks he has been instrumental in the financial stability of Mount Pleasant Waterworks which has allowed MPW to continue to provide customers with safe clean water and wastewater service at the lowest rates in Charleston County.
