Jack Wilson

Jack Wilson won the 10th and final installment of this year’s Player of the Week contest sponsored by Tony Pope State Farm Insurance of Mount Pleasant between Palmetto Christian, Bishop England and Wando football players.

Wilson, a senior linebacker for Bishop England, was coach John Cantey’s pick after he had six solo tackles, four assists, a sack and a forced fumble against Ridgeland-Hardeeville, Nov. 1.

Wilson has 23 solo tackles, 24 assists and a forced and recovered fumble this season. The Bishops are allowing only 14.4 points per game.

With the win, Bishop England gained its third win of this friendly rivalry contest. Palmetto Christian has the lead with four victories, while Wando also has three wins.

This week, Bishops teammate Nick Shiver came in second behind Wilson. Palmetto Christian’s J.T. Waters grabbed third place in the public voting.

Each week during the high school football regular season, you voted among six players – two from each of the three East Cooper programs – for who you thought was most deserving of the title of Player of the Week.

Now that the Player of the Week series is complete, we take all the Player of the Week winners and give you an opportunity to choose the Player of the Year.

Like all previous weeks, the voting process is done entirely online at www.MoultrieNews.com/POTW. Voting closes Monday at noon.
