Rotary Wheels Gala raises funds for WMI

  • Sunday, November 24, 2013

The Rotary Club of Charleston Breakfast and Water Missions International announce that the 2013 Rotary Wheels Gala raised more than $108,000 for global and local initiatives.

The event, held on Sept. 12 at Memminger Auditorium, featured fantastic silent auction items, excellent food and drink, and an entertaining live auction led by the masterful Tom Crawford. The event was a smashing success and a great time for all who attended.

The groups are working to boost the proceeds of the event with matching grants available through regional and international Rotary grant programs. The ultimate goal is to provide sustainable access to safe drinking water and sanitation to a community in South or Central America that will transform the community by eliminating preventable water borne illnesses and allowing men, women and children to focus on education and development.

The Rotary Club of Charleston Breakfast will also reinvest a portion of the proceeds into their endowment fund at the Coastal Community Foundation. Since 2005, the Rotary Club of Charleston Breakfast has given in excess of $130,000 to support approximately 15 Lowcountry charities.

The Rotary Club of Charleston Breakfast and Water Missions International would like to express their most sincere thanks to all who made this event possible. Notably, the evening will have a long lasting impact worldwide as well as in the Lowcountry.
