VO2Max Giveaway for Athletes Wanting to Increase Performance

For Immediate Release- Charleston Sports Medicine and FitMed Partners have joined forces to give away a test to a Lowcountry athlete. VO2Max can access the physical fitness of an individual by measuring oxygen levels. The test, which takes about 20 minutes, will help athletes determine how much exertion is needed to reach optimal potential in their sport. States Dr. Bright McConnell, III, “The VO2Max test is an excellent indicator of cardiovascular fitness. Many athletes like to have this test done and use the results as a tool in their training. We are happy to provide a local athlete the opportunity to gain insight on performance while improving potential.”

The VO2Max is a graded exercise test administered on treadmill at the Charleston Sports Medicine office on Daniel Island. An exercise physiologist increases the intensity while measuring oxygen and carbon dioxide concentration. VO2Max is determined when oxygen levels become steady despite an increase in intensity. Dr. McConnell explains, “This is a great test for runners who want to increase speed and for triathletes who want to access endurance. This is also a great test for anyone wanting to obtain the maximum benefit from a workout. t helps a person determine at what heart rate they start burning fat.”

To enter to win the VO2Max test, go to the Charleston Sports Medicine Facebook page. There will be posts throughout the month with chances to win. A winner will be announced on Dec. 6. For more information, log onto www.charlestonsportsmed.com or www.fitmedpartners.com.
