The Boeing Company, and all the Mount Pleasant Elementary schools have come together to promote reading and literacy in our community.
About four years ago, Art Collins, member of board of directors of The Boeing Company, began writing a nine-book series of adventure books for kids entitled; The Adventures of Archibald & Jockabeb. Target age range for the books is between about 8 and 12 years old, although older kids and parents enjoy them also.
Collins has donated over $5,000 in books from the series to elementary schools in Mount Pleasant (Pinckney, Belle Hall, Jennie Moore, Whitesides, Mt. Pleasant Academy, James B. Edwards, Sullivan Island, and Trident Academy), as well as several CCSD Title I schools. All of the Mount Pleasant schools have included the books in their reading curriculum. All of the books have free professional study guides.
He is committed to helping to promote reading and literacy. The books are also part of Charleston’s Reading Partners program. This program buys books and supplies volunteer tutors for struggling readers in the Charleston Country School District.

He is also scheduled to be at the Mt. Pleasant Barnes & Noble store on December 7th for a Meet the Author book signing.
