Patriots Point Links general manager, Brad Parker, and Mount Pleasant resident Trampus Hoover will be featured on Golf Channel on Monday night, Dec. 9, at 10:30 p.m. in a telecast called “PGA Year in Review – Reaching Up, Reaching Out.”
Hoover is the Special Olympian golf athlete who Parker mentors at Patriots Point, and partners with in national Special Olympics team competitions.
The pair first caught the attention of a PGA of America video crew in October at the 2013 Special Olympics North America Golf Invitational Tournament, where the partners teamed to win a Silver Medal and provided some poignant, almost tearful, on-course moments. The video crew later visited Patriots Point and gained additional footage for the Golf Channel telecast during a fund-raising golf tournament for Special Olympics golf competitors.
Although there are scores of volunteer coaches that mentor Special Olympic golf athletes, Parker is one of only a handful of the 27,000 PGA of America professionals to actually team in competition with an athlete they coach.
Patriots Point Links is managed by Atlanta-based Mosaic Clubs & Resorts.
