Get up on your toes.
Start a new holiday tradition this year and bring the entire family to “The Little Match Girl,” presented by Chamber Music Charleston and the Charleston Dance Institute. The performance will be presented on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. at the Rose Maree Myers Theater at the Charleston County School of the Arts, 5109-B West Enterprise St., North Charleston.
Never in Charleston has an original ballet and score been crafted quite like this production. The original musical score is by Laura Ball, music is provided by the Chamber Music Charleston and performances are from the Youth Dance Company of the Charleston Dance Institute. Choreography is by Jonathan Tabbert.
The beautiful, period sets were built by Buchanan Arts, and, along with the lighting, and the young dancers in their creative costumes, together, they underscore the story’s moods, and reflect the period.
The magic of winter sparkles and flirts with the audience, when the dancers turn into shooting stars and dancing flames.
Tickets: $20 adult and $10 child.
