On Nov. 5, the citizens of the Town of Mount Pleasant elected Rick Crosby and John Burn to serve six year terms as Commissioners for Mount Pleasant Waterworks Commission.

Crosby has served on the commission since 1998. During his tenure, he has served as vice-chair of the commission, chair of the personnel committee and as a representative on the Town of Mount Pleasant Economic Development Committee.

Burn came to the commission as the chair of the Water Supply Committee for the Town of Mount Pleasant and served as an ex-officio member. Over the past four years, in addition to serving on town council and several committees of council, Burn served on the Mount Pleasant Waterworks’ Personnel and Cost Recovery Committees.

During the commission meeting held on Nov. 18 both members were sworn into office by Mount Pleasant Waterworks attorney, David Jennings.

Mount Pleasant Waterworks is governed by five elected commissioners along with the mayor of the Town of Mount Pleasant and the chair of the Town of Mount Pleasant Water Supply Committee. Crosby and Burn join current commissioners Diane D. Lauritsen, Ph.D, Susan I. Mellichamp, Mac Jenkinson, newly elected Mayor Linda Page and Town of Mount Pleasant Water Supply Chair Mark Smith.

After the swearing in, commissioners elected officers. Crosby was elected to serve as the chair while Dr. Lauritsen was elected vice-chair and Mellichamp as secretary treasurer.

In addition all members serve on the personnel committee, cost recovery committee, and audit committee. The commission also has a community development ad-hoc committee which consists of three members. The following members will lead the Mount Pleasant Waterworks Committees:
