Ailing Grevey leads B.E. past North Charleston

  • Saturday, December 21, 2013

B.J. Grevey scored 27 points in three quarters with a fever of over 100.

B.J. Grevey channeled his inner Michael Jordan flu game Friday night, scoring 27 points as Bishop England took down North Charleston 54-47 at home.

Grevey entered the night battling a fever of more than 100 degrees. He was held scoreless in the first quarter while Bishop England (5-3, 2-0) fell behind 15-3.

But as Grevey heated up, so did Bishop England, outscoring North Charleston in each of the final three quarters while the captain rained in six threes.

“I don't know how he even played,” Bishop England head coach Bryan Grevey said. “He was so sick.”

By the middle of the third quarter, Bishop England had erased a nine-point halftime deficit, and went on to outscore North Charleston 22-10 in the frame. Taylor Howell finished with 11 and Ben Carico added six for Bishop England. Nygel Lawton led North Charleston with 12, Statan Levine added 10.

Thursday, Bishop England will tip off in the Lake Marion Invitational Tournament in Santee, S.C.
