No good deed goes unpunished
A man came to a stop sign one day, and off to the side, noticed a car parked with the hood up. He offered to help the man who accepted the help, saying, “Sure if you know anything about cars.”
He put his car in park and walked over to the man who began asking odd questions about car repair that did not make sense. Moments later another man appeared holding what looked like a gun, according to a police report. The man demanded the victim’s wallet, which the victim threw toward him.
He then begged the suspect to take his clothes, the truck, but not to hurt him.
At this point the victim told police the subject cussed him out and ran and jumped into his truck.
He said the subject drove toward Highway 17 and then turned around and headed back toward them, making a turn into a neighborhood just past them.
He told police he heard the truck’s engine rev and then a loud bang.
Police patrolled everywhere but did not find the truck.
However, the victim was able to give police a description of both men. One of the officers remembered these two men from an earlier call at a gas station in which the clerk asked police to have them leave.
The problem in that incident is that they were in the parking lot for an unusually long time. One even came in with a hoodie over his head, which is not allowed in that store. He was asked to remove it.
This resulted in his identity being possibly captured on the gas station’s video camera, which police sought a warrant for.
This incident is still under investigation.
