In the spirit of the holiday season, Molina Healthcare donated more than 671 pounds of canned goods and non-perishable food items to the Lowcountry Food Bank for its “Hunger Knows No Season” food drive on Monday, Dec. 23.

“As a new company in the area, we are so excited to be able to participate in one of our first community outreach projects,” said Tom Lindquist, president of Molina Healthcare of South Carolina. “We look forward to volunteering at other events like this in the future and hope to stay active members in the communities we serve.”

The donation will be able to generate 559 meals for hungry families in the Charleston area. Employees worked together to collect the canned goods and dropped off at the food bank with Dr. Cleo, Molina’s cat doctor mascot.

According to Feeding America, more than 800,000 people in South Carolina suffer from food insecurity, which means they do not know where they will find their next meal. Molina Healthcare hopes to reduce this stress and provide to those in need, especially for the holiday season.
