Wando used a big fourth quarter to run away with a 65-47 win at Ashley Ridge Tuesday.

With his team holding on to a seven-point lead, Wando forward Jamez Rogers poured in 16 of his game-high 23 points in the final frame to stretch open the lopsided win. Amp Moore added six of his 16 in the fourth for Wando.

Moore paced the Warriors early, trading baskets with Ashley Ridge's Raekwon Jones through the first quarter. Both turned in seven in the first.

Ashley Ridge was limited to just two made field goals in the second quarter, while Alex Terrell and Moore both knocked down threes to help open a seven-point Warriors' advantage.

Terrell and Matt Pegram both finished with seven points. Jones led Ashley Ridge with 12, Corbin Landers turned in seven and Edwin White six.

Wando moves to 12-3 overall, winners of three straight and undefeated in the New Year. Cross-river rival Bishop England visits Wando Saturday for game two of the season series.

Lady Warriors win third straight

Wando junior guard Courtney Wood scored a game-high 20 points Tuesday to lift Wando to a 58-54 win at Ashley Ridge.

Wood knocked down three threes in the third quarter to help Wando erase an eight-point halftime deficit and take a four-point lead headed into the fourth quarter. Wood added two more threes in the final frame to finish 6-of-12 from beyond the arc.

Clare McTighe added 12 points and three steals, Kimberly Smalls 10 points and four rebounds, and Dynasty Heyward four points, five assists, and three steals for Wando.

Katie Burnette connected on three threes in the first quarter and led Ashley Ridge with 14 points, but was held without a field goal through the final three quarters. Shelby Daly added 12 points, and Kelly Cousins turned in nine.

The Lady Warriors have won all three games in 2014, and five of their last seven since starting the season 0-7. //
