PCA drops road tilt at Christian Academy
Palmetto Christian received a holiday gift but it wasn't enough to get the Eagles off to the start they'd hoped for Thursday in Myrtle Beach.
Senior Joe Siegwald returned to the court for the first time since the season opener, but the Eagles still couldn't keep pace with Christian Academy, falling 69-56 in their first game of the New Year.
Already with a 12-point lead by halftime, Christian Academy (8-5) saved its best for the third quarter, limiting Palmetto Christian to just two made field goals, while racking up 22 points of its own.
Ben German led Palmetto Christian with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting, with eight rebounds and two blocks. J.T. Waters added 13 points, while Mitch Hogan turned in eight. Sam Iriart scored five and pulled down seven rebounds. Palmetto Christian struggled shooting most of the night, connecting on just 33 percent from the field, 27 percent from beyond the three-point arc and 32 percent from the free-throw line.
Christian Academy had a trio score in double figures as Garrett Richards finished with 16, Austin Guyton 15 and Cole Gore 11.
Palmetto Christian (3-7) returns home Friday looking to rebound in its Region II opener against Calhoun Academy at 7:30 p.m.
