The huge range of technological tools and programs now available promise great results – but how do nonprofits with limited time and even more limited budgets decide which are right for their needs? Thanks to a grant from Google Inc. Charitable Giving Fund at Tides Foundation, the South Carolina Tech Academy of Coastal Community Foundation is offering the first of a series of programs to help nonprofits with their technology needs.
“Why YOUR Nonprofit Needs to Consider ‘Going Google’!” will introduce Google Apps for Nonprofits, a free suite of tools that provides even the smallest organizations the technological resources needed to work more efficiently and effectively.
The session will present what tools are included, a demonstration of how those tools can improve the way nonprofits work, and examples of how other organizations have leveraged their power. Participants will learn about collaborating, sharing, and accessing documents and calendars from anywhere using any device; creating a customized email address for their nonprofit; producing a professional-looking website using Google Sites; conducting meetings with Google Chat, a free video chat service that enables both one-on-one and group chats with up to ten people at a time; showcasing their nonprofit’s work by using YouTube; and collecting and analyzing data for grant applications and annual reports using Google Forms.
The program will be held on Tuesday Jan. 28 at the offices of Coastal Community Foundation, 635 Rutledge Ave. Suite 201, Charleston. Participants may choose either a session from 9 – 11 a.m. or 1 – 3 p.m.
